Olympic youth champion Thach Kim Tuan brought home three gold medals from the Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships which concluded in Yangon, Myanmar on Tuesday.
Tuan successfully defended his titles in the men's 56kg category beating eight strong rivals from the Philippines, China, India and North Korea.
The 18-year-old athlete took his first gold in the snatch event with a lift of 124kg. His second was in the jerk and clean event, lifting 151kg, while Tuan's overall total of 275kg was enough to seal his third gold medal.
Viet Nam's Head of Weightlifting Do Dinh Khang said he was pleased with Tuan's performance, but insisted the athlete must try harder to emulate his success in stronger tournaments.-VNS
