HCM CITY (VNS) — Do Phuoc Tuan of Gao Hat Ngoc Troi An Giang finished first in the eighth stage of the Return to the Countryside cycling tournament yesterday.

Tuan took the 77km stage from Kien Tuong Town in Long An Province to Hong Ngu District in Dong Thap Province with 2hr 01.40min.

Tran Nguyen Duy Nhan of Military Zone 7 and Nguyen Minh Thien of Vinh Long came second and third, respectively.

Finishing in a crowd two seconds after the stage winner, Nguyen Hoang Giang of Gao Hat Ngoc Troi An Giang emerged as the tour leader with a total time of 19:04.28.

He is followed by Phan Tuan Vu of Can Tho and his teammate Pham Minh Triet.

After eight stages, Gao Hat Ngoc Troi An Giang are on top of the team ranking, followed by An Giang Plant Protection and Vinh Long.

The 95km final stage will be held today from Chau Doc City to Long Xuyen City. — VNS
