HCM CITY — The Asia Book of Records has recognised two Vietnamese dishes as an "Asian speciality".
According to the Viet Nam Record Book Centre (Vietkings), they are bun bo Hue (noodle and beef cooked Hue style) and mi Quang (yellow noodle with pork and rice crackers from the central province of Quang Nam).
Historian Nguyen Khac Thuan, a member of Vietkings' consultancy council, hoped 63 provincial cultural authorities would provide information about prominent local dishes to the Asia Book of Records and Guinness Book of World Records in order to introduce them to the world.
In June Vietkings sent a list of 15 dishes unique to Viet Nam to the Asia Book of Records, and 12 have been recognised so far.
The Asia Book of Records is based in India, and seeks to help all Asians showcase their unique talents to the world.-VNS
