HA NOI (VNS) — U21 Viet Nam tied goalless with U19 South Korea on November 17 in a friendly match.
The game was held in preparation for the International U21 Football Championship that will be held from November 20 to 29 at Thong Nhat Stadium in HCM City.
Coach Pham Minh Duc of Viet Nam said he believed in his players' skills. Viet Nam played well in the friendly matches.
Meanwhile, Coach An Iksoo of South Korea said, "Our goal is to avoid injuries for players in this tournament, which is a warm-up for the coming Asian U19 football tournament and the U20 World Cup in South Korea."
Earlier, Viet Nam drew 1-1 with V. League 1 side Quang Ninh Coal.
Viet Nam will play a local PVF U21 squad on November 19 in the last friendly match, before participating in the international event, which has a total prize money of about VND1 billion (US$45,500).
The winner will walk away with $12,000, while the first and second runners-up will receive $7,000 and $5,000, respectively.
The event's organising board will also present awards to the best footballer, best scorer and best goalkeeper. — VNS
