HCM CITY — The Trey McIntyre Project, an acclaimed American contemporary-ballet company, will perform with local artists and students in Ha Noi and HCM City this week, presenting some of America's finest contemporary dances to the people of Viet Nam.

The troupe was selected to perform in the two cities by Dance Motion USA, a programme sponsored by the US Department of State and produced by the Brooklyn Academy of Music.

Their Viet Nam tour will include public performances, master classes, lectures, demonstrations, workshops, exchanges with Vietnamese artists and outreach to underprivileged audiences.

In Ha Noi, the troupe will perform at the Au Co Theatre, 8 Huynh Thuc Khang Street, at 8pm on Wednesday.

They will interact with artists of the Viet Nam Music and Dance Theatre and students of the Viet Nam Dance College, and visit the SOS Children's Village in Ha Noi.

In HCM City, the troupe will perform at the Opera House, at 8pm on Friday.

They will meet with Bong Sen dancers and members of the Arabesque Dance Troupe, the HCM City Dance School and HCM City Ballet Symphony Orchestra and Opera.

Later, they will visit the Disability Resource and Development Centre.

About 60 underprivileged children from the Christina Noble and Thang Long vocational schools will be invited for an exchange with the artists. The visitors will also have an exchange with disabled people at the DRD Meeting Club in HCM City.

Tickets for their performances in Viet Nam will be provided free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis.

For tickets in Ha Noi, visit the US Embassy website at http://vietnam.usembassy.gov to register. For the performance in HCM City, tickets (maximum two per person) can be picked up at the Public Affairs Section of the US Consulate General's office at the 8th floor, Diamond Plaza, 34 Le Duan Street, District 1. — VNS
