USAID video contest engages Vietnamese youth in development

The US Agency for International Development (USAID) has announced a video contest for vocational, college and university students, aiming to engage Vietnamese youth in addressing the country's developmental challenges.

HA NOI (VNS) — The US Agency for International Development (USAID) has announced a video contest for vocational, college and university students, aiming to engage Vietnamese youth in addressing the country's developmental challenges.

The contest invites Vietnamese students to create videos demonstrating a development issue in their community and proposing a solution. Issues may be related to health, education, agriculture, climate change, women's empowerment, or support for LGBT and other vulnerable groups.

"Youth can contribute to and benefit from more prosperous communities and nations," said Jason Foley, USAID's deputy assistant administrator for Asia. "Better understanding of youths' ideas and approaches to addressing development issues will help USAID create programmes that better support them, helping them become part of the solution to today's challenges."

The deadline for entry submission is April 28. Details about the contest are available at www.facebook.com/USAIDVietnam. — VNS
