HA NOI (VNS) — Thanh Hoa have fired Nigerian striker Timothy Anjembe after just two rounds of the Toyota V-League 1.
It is the first player losing his job this season.
The main reasons for Anjembe's ouster are his poor performance and indiscipline during training.
Executive Director Nguyen Van De said that all procedures to terminate the contract were finalised yesterday morning.
Anjembe was the best V-League scorer in 2012 with 17 goals, when he played for Ha Noi FC. Last season, he netted 18 times for Hoang Anh Gia Lai.
De said that a player from Brazil was being tested in the team and was expected to replace Anjembe.
Hoang Anh Gia Lai also wish to terminate contracts with Slovenian midfielder Morec Mitja and Swedish striker Darko Lukanovic.
Mitja has heart disease, while Lukanovic does not meet the team managers' requirements.
Former champions Song Lam Nghe An want to end their contract with Ghana player Abubakar Bello Osagie.
The teams are allowed to replace their foreign players before the deadline of January 17. — VNS
