Van Phuc Village on the outskirts of Ha Noi, which has carried on the silk trade for more than 1,000 years, has been recognised as the oldest in the country by the Viet Nam Book of Records.
Its silk products, chosen for display at two fairs in Marseille and Paris in France in 1931 and 1932, were described as the best of their kind in Indochina.
Villagers have preserved their traditional silk weaving techniques and showcase their products at more than 150 outlets on the "silk street" in Van Phuc ward, Ha Dong District. — VNS
