VFF leaders encourage Vietnamese women's football team


During the meeting, President Tuấn acknowledged the team’s serious training spirit and efforts under the leadership of head coach Mai Đức Chung. HÀ NỘI — Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) President Trần Quốc Tuấn has recently met with the national women's football team, who are currently training for an international friendly match against Werder Bremen women’s club of Germany on May 16.

During the meeting, President Tuấn acknowledged the team’s serious training spirit and efforts under the leadership of head coach Mai Đức Chung. He emphasised that the upcoming friendly match is not only an opportunity for players to hone their skills, but also serves as a cultural exchange, strengthening the friendly relationship between the two countries through sports.

The match also showcases the proactive preparation of Vietnamese women's football ahead of the 2026 AFC Women's Asian Cup qualifiers. 

Tuấn urged the entire team to remain focused and put forth maximum effort in their preparations for upcoming challenges, particularly the 2026 AFC Women's Asian Cup qualifiers, the 2025 ASEAN Women's Championship and the 33rd SEA Games.

The VFF president expressed confidence that, with careful preparation, unity and a strong competitive spirit, the Vietnamese women's team will continue to bring pride to the nation on the international stage.

Coach Chung said that despite facing challenges in rejuvenating and transitioning the squad, the team are dedicated to fulfilling their responsibilities and meeting the expectations of fans and sports leaders.

The match between the Vietnamese women's team and Werder Bremen Club will take place at 7pm on May 16 at Hàng Đẫy Stadium in Hà Nội. VNS
