HA NOI — The Viet Nam Football Federation (VFF) on Tuesday officially announced coach Phan Thanh Hung to take over the national football team, while coach Lu Dinh Tuan to lead the U-22 team.

However, the VFF said that it had not signed contract with the coaches.

"We haven't signed long-term contracts with Hung and Tuan. The VFF will consider about it if the next matches have good results," said Nguyen Lan Trung, deputy chairman of the VFF.

Hung, who is now a coach of V-League leading Ha Noi T&T club, will lead Viet Nam in the next month's two friendly matches against China and Hong Kong.

The 22-member national team will gather in Ha Noi on June 4 before travelling to China two days later.

Meanwhile, the U-22 team will convene in Ha Noi on June 5 in preparation for the Asian Under-22 Football Championships 2013 qualifiers.

They are in Group G together with South Korea, the Philippines, Malaysia, Chinese Taipei, and hosts Myanmar.

Tuan, former coach of Sai Gon FC, said he had a little bit of pressure but he hoped his team would succeed at the June 22-July 9 tournament. — VNS
