HA NOI (VNS)—Vietnamese swimming star Nguyen Thi Anh Vien has won a silver medal at the Asian Youth Games in Nanjing, China, after finishing second in the girl's 100m backstroke event.
Vien achieved the best time in qualifying by finishing in 1:03:58. The Can Tho-born girl then achieved 1:03.46, securing second place behind South Korean Im Dasol, who finished the race in 1:03.08.
In the tennis, Ly Hoang Nam beat Thailand's Congsup Congcar 2-0 to book a place in the quarterfinals, where he will face Yang Shao of Chinese Taipei. – VNS
