HA NOI (VNS) — Viet Nam finished second at the 2014 Southeast Asian Swimming Championships which wrapped up yesterday in Singapore.

With 12 gold, four silver and four bronze medals, Viet Nam missed out on top place to the hosts Singapore, who won 20 golds, 22 silvers and 14 bronzes. Indonesia finished third with nine golds.

The tournament, held at the OCBC Aquatic Centre in Singapore Sports Hub from June 14-24, gathered swimmers from six Southeast Asian countries including Malaysia, the Philippines and Thailand.

"Having emerged as the top ASEAN country at this year's championships, we have given a good account of ourselves. We are confident of a good showing at next year's SEA Games," Singapore Swimming Association President Lee Kok Choy said in a press release. — VNS
