After two losses over Chinese Taipei and the hosts, Viet Nam hardly had an opportunity to progress to the next round. However, the players were still determined to do their best. In the 18th minute, Nguyen Dinh Bao opened the score of the match.
During the first half, the Vietnamese footballers controlled the game and got three more goals thanks to Mac Hong Quan (in the 25th and 27th minutes) and Ngo Hoang Thinh (in the 30th minute).
In the second half, coach Lu Dinh Tuan decided to bring out his reserve footballers. These changes helped Viet Nam earn five more goals. Huynh Van Thanh, who replaced Nguyen Van Quyet in the 46th minute, and Bao added one goal each. Le Quoc Phuong, who replaced Giang Tran Quach Tan in the 62th minute, and Thinh contributed two goals each.
Thanks to this win, Viet Nam gets its first three points at the tournament and is ranked fifth out of six in the group. South Korea is temporarily at the top of the group with seven points, followed by Myanmar and Malaysia.
Today the Vietnamese team will meet Malaysia, who beat Chinese Taipei 4-2 on Thursday. — VNS
