HA NOI (VNS) — The first semi-final of the International U21 Football Tournament will be an all-Vietnamese clash between Viet Nam and Hoang Anh Gia Lai FC.
The rematch comes one year after Hoang Anh Gia Lai beat Viet Nam in the penalty shoot-out in last year's semis in Can Tho city.
Viet Nam coach Pham Minh Duc said his team will definitely take revenge.
"We followed fair-play spirit last year and lost. But this year things will be different. If they are weak we will attack otherwise we will focus on counter-attacks," said Duc.
"Hoang Anh Gia Lai are experts in possessing the ball. Their ball possession was up to 70 per cent against South Korea.
"I have my plans to face them. Some of my best players were rested against Singapore. They were saved for the semis. I think Hoang Anh Gia Lai will not change their tactics. We will play for a victory," said Duc who was really excited after two group round wins and told media that his team had no weak points at all.
On the other side, coach Nguyen Quoc Tuan also had his own thinking.
"We prefer attacking but we can be very flexible for each match and will correct our weak points in the defence," he said.
Tuan said Viet Nam U21 were a strong squad but his team were also home to good players.
The match will be kicked off at 6pm today at the Thong Nhat Stadium in HCM City. It will be live aired on VTV6 channel.
