Huong, a student of the Viet Nam National Academy of Music, beat out 79 other competitors to nab the top spot at the competition in Nanning on Sunday.
The student's recital took place in front of a 17-member panel of judges, including professors and famous Chinese musicians.
Huong's victory was decided in a unanimous judgement by the esteemed panel and is Viet Nam's first ever at an international flute competition.
Veteran flute artist Nguyen Trong Bang was among the judges at the contest.
The contest attracted flute lecturers, solo flutists and orchestra flute musicians. – VNS
