Viet Nam win four golds at Asian junior finswimmimg event


Viet Nam dominated at the Asian Junior Finswimming Championships at Da Nang's swimming club yesterday when they brought home four gold medals.

HA NOI (VNS)- Viet Nam dominated at the Asian Junior Finswimming Championships at Da Nang's swimming club yesterday when they brought home four gold medals.

were Nguyen Thanh Loc won in the men's 50m surface (diving with a snorkel) event with a time of 17.07, Ngo Phuc Sang triumphed in the men's 50m immersion (diving with a scuba tank) with a time of 20.43, Tran Thi Trang Diem won the women's 400m surface with a time of 3:29.39 and Vo Quang Dai grabbed the gold in the men's 400m underwater swimming event, holding his breath throughout the race with a time of 3:12.45.

With this result, Viet Nam took the lead in the junior event with a total of eight golds, two silvers and three bronzes. China came second with three golds and two silvers while South Korea came third with two golds, seven silvers and six bronzes.

The tournament, which has drawn 159 athletes from 11 teams competing in the senior and junior divisions, ends today.—VNS
