HA NOI (VNS) — Viet Nam pocketed three gold medals at the open athletics tournament which closed on Sunday in Malaysia.
Nguyen Thi Phuong notched two wins with a time of 4min 37.11sec in the women's 1,500m event and 11:12.00 in the 3,000 steeplechase.
Quach Thi Lan was in full flight, seizing the women's 400m hurdle in 57.74sec, only 0.38sec behind her own national record.
The Thanh Hoa Province athlete also grabbed a silver in the 400m event with a time of 53.84s, ahead of SEA Games gold medallist Treewadee Yongphan (54.13s).
Older brother Quach Cong Lich took home silver in the men's 400m with a time of 47.80.
The Malaysian competition attracted more than 120 athletes from 10 countries and territories including Australia, Singapore, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Hong Kong and Viet Nam.— VNS
