HA NOI (VNS)— Defending champions Viet Nam will face Malaysia in the semi-finals of the women's football competition at the 27th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games today in Mandalay city, Myanmar.
Viet Nam won two matches against the Philippines and Myanmar to win the Group A with six points, while Malaysia beat Laos, but lost to Thailand to rank second in Group B.
Viet Nam, which has won four titles in five past SEA Games tournaments, is clearly the favourite over Malaysia, who have never been a problem for Viet Nam.
It will be a tight contest, however, in the other semi-final matches, as Thailand will face hosts Myanmar, with both teams sharing equal chances of winning the match.
The final will take place on Friday. – VNS
