HA NỘI (VNS) — Vietnamese artist Thanh Bui is one of the Asian celebrities appearing in a video clip entitled We The People for The Global Goals, being launched by the UN.

Bui and many international artists and celebrities such as Kate Winslet, Meryl Streep, Jennifer Lopez and Stephan Hawking speak about the global goals for sustainable development in the video.

There are 17 global sustainable development goals such as ending poverty and hunger; and ensuring good health and well-being, quality education and gender equality.

In the video clip, Bùui raises a board on the goal of quality education for a few seconds.

"When I was small, I knew about social activities conducted by the UN. I was inspired by ambassadors whose voices and ideas helped to change the world," Bùui told online newspaper Vn.express.net.

"I wish I could be like them. Our dream is now coming true. I'm very proud to be one of the ambassadors for the Global Goals by the UN."

Bùui is an Australian-Vietnamese singer and songwriter. In 2008, he became the first Australian of Vietnamese origin to reach the top eight of Australian Idol.

He returns to Viet Nam and works for his projects. He set up a Sound Music and Performing Arts Academy in HCM City in 2012.

The academy co-operates with the Loreto Viet Nam Australia Programme, an education organisation, to raise funds for opening music classes in remote areas.

Bùui and late musician Trinh Cong Son's family launched a music scholarship for talented and outstanding students from disadvantaged backgrounds.

He continues to do his international projects with Apl.de.ap, a member of The Black Eyed Peas hip-hop group, and American producer RedOne.

He is also an ambassador for the Global Power Shift international climate movement and Rhino Protection. — VNS
