DA NANG (VNS)— Nguyen Van Long from Gia Lai won the Da Nang International Marathon after finishing a 42km race in two hours 56 minutes and 31 seconds at the East Sea Park on Sunday.
His teammate Ly Van Chien came in second with a time of 3hr 20min in an event that drew 174 marathoners.
Pham Quynh Le finished the women's event in 3hr 27min 50sec, while Nong Thi Nguyet clocked 3hr 48min 28sec to rank second in the division.
"I'm happy to win the race today. We had an advantage today because it was cool and windless. However, the last 21km was a challenge for us when it started getting hot, but I gave my all to win the race with home support," Long said.
In the half marathon, Le Van Tuan from Dong Nai finished first in 1hr 15min to beat his fellow countryman Nguyen Truong Sinh, who came second in 1hr 16min 16sec.
