HA NOI (VNS)– A "Vietnamese Culture Space" presenting antique objects and images from Viet Nam has been opened to the public at the Belgian Royal Museum in Brussels.

Among the items displayed at the museum are old photos showing Viet Nam at the beginning of the 20th century. The photos belong to collector Clement Huet (1874-1951) who lived in Viet Nam for 26 years between 1912 and 1938.

Alongside the photos, his collection also includes old Bat Trang ceramic items; a replica of Dong Son bronze drum and stone jewellery items from the Iron Age's Sa Huynh Civilisation, dated from 1,000 BC-AD 200.

Twenty five other selected antique items also are on display. Accompanying articles and photographs explain the history of the objects and the places they were excavated, offering visitors an insight into Vietnamese history and culture.

Films about traditional jobs and customs in Viet Nam are also being screened at the exhibition.

The event, which runs until the end of May, 2014, has been organised to celebrate the 40th anniversary of relation between Viet Nam and Belgium. – VNS
