HA NOI (VNS) — Short film David and Luisa by director Bui Trung Hai won the Bronze Remi Award at the 48th Annual WorldFest - Houston International Film Festival in the United States.
The 22-minute film made by Hai in 2012, which won the award in the original dramatic short film category, is a love story about two acting students in Hollywood. It describes the psychological development of the characters, the comparison between reality and dream and between daily life and life on the stage.
The film was shot in Los Angeles, in the US, when Hai studied filmmaking at the New York Film Academy.
Although the festival was held in April, the organisers recently sent the prizes to Hai because he could not attend the festival.
Hai won the Gold Remi Award at WorldFest – Houston International Film Festival in 2008 for his first film Khi Nang Thu Ve (When Autumn Sunlight Comes) and the Silver Lotus title for Ha Noi 12 Ngay Dem (Ha Noi's 12 Nights and Days) at the Viet Nam National Film Festival in 2004.
WorldFest is one of the oldest and largest film and video competitions in the world, with more than 4,500 category entries received from 37 countries in 2015. — VNS
