HCM CITY (VNS) — Vietnamese-German youth Trong Hieu beat his female rival Bich Ngoc to win the Viet Nam Idol contest last night, after receiving the overwhelming majority vote from the audience.
At the gala show held last night, 23-year-old Hieu performed Uptown Funk. Like his previous performances, Hieu won over the audience not only with his smooth vocals, but also attractive dancing.
Along with the title, Hieu has won the VND600-million (US$27,000) cash prize.
Although his win was quite expected by the audience and the media, Hieu was quite surprised and burst into tears when he was announced as the winner of the sixth season of the Viet Nam Idol contest.
Hieu showed his great passion for music from a very young age and attended several music shows in Germany. He was among the top 25 of the German Idol contest in 2008. — VNS
