WASHINGTON, D.C. (VNS) — Seven Vietnamese photographers have won prizes in a photography contest organised by a World Bank affiliate to highlight powerful images depicting inclusion around the world.
Through strong photography the 2014 CGAP (Consultative Group to Assist the Poor) Photo Contest sought to showcase the different ways in which poor households manage their financial lives and to raise awareness about the importance of formal financial services for people at the base of the economic pyramid.
Tran Dinh Thuong's entry Traditional which depicts a woman transporting ceramic pots at a kiln, received a special mention, with the judges hailing the symmetry in the image and remarking that he had shot the photo at exactly the right moment.
This year's competition received a record 4,820 entries from professional and amateur photographers in 95 countries. — VNS
