HA NOI (VNS)– Viet Nam's Nguyen Tien Minh breezed through to the quarter-final round of the Yonex OCBC US Open GPG badminton tournament early this morning in California.
The world No 9 defeated Malaysia's Chun Seang Tan 21-11, 21-15 only after 21 minutes.
Minh, who is seeded third in the tournament, will play the winner of the match between American Sattawat Pongnairat and Antonio Benjamin Gadi of the Philippines.
On the women's side, Vu Thu Trang of Viet Nam will face Salakjit Ponsana of Thailand later today. Trang yesterday trounced Christine Yang of the US 21-8, 21-1 in the first round. – VNS
