HCM CITY — Ngoi Nha Am Nhac (Music House), a version of the US reality music show Star Academy, will begin tomorrow on HCM City Television's HTV7 channel.
The three-month live show is involves 16 contestants aged 16-30 years old who display their singing and dancing skills.
The contestants stay together for a period of time and are trained by professional singers and musicians.
They will perform in front of the jury and audiences, who will vote and eliminate one of the contestants every week.
More than 5,000 people participated in the show's selective rounds that closed last month in Ha Noi, HCM City and the Tay Nguyen (Central Highlands) city of Buon Me Thuot.
The 16 finalists were selected by composers Phuong Uyen, Le Quang and Luu Thien Huong, singers Siu Black and Ngoc Anh, and music lecturer Ha Thuy of the Military College of Arts and Culture.
They will perform on stage under training from a group of skilled singers and dancers, including Nam Khanh, Khanh Thi, Tran Ly Ly, and Bulgarian dancer Alexender Vachev.
Fashion designers Tuan Tran and Anh Thu, owners of the brandnames Centoria and Joli Poli, will also join the coaching team.
The winner will receive VND300 million (US$15,000) in cash. The two runners-up will share VND300 million.
"We hope Ngoi Nha Am Nhac will not only entertain but also provide audiences with knowledge about music and dance," young songwriter Nguyen Hong Thuan, a member of the show's, said.
The show is produced by Cat Tien Sa, one of the city's leading entertainment agencies, in co-operation with its partner, HTV.
It will be broadcast on HTV 7 every Friday. — VNS
