HA NOI (VNS) — Marksman Hoang Xuan Vinh will head to the final of the men's 25m centre fire pistol at the sixth CISM Military World Games in South Korea after yesterday's qualifier.

Vinh is the only Vietnamese shooter to pass the qualifying round with 573 points, which puts him in 10th place. Ha Minh Thanh and Dau Van Dong failed.

In the men's 25m centre fire pistol team, Viet Nam ranked 11th with 1,715 points. The gold medal went to Brazil with 1,744 points, and silver to Australia with 1,733 points.

In the final of women's 50 prone rifle category, Nguyen Thi Phuong ranked 11th with 619.3 points. Nguyen Phuong Thao finished far behind at 51st position.

Viet Nam will compete in shooting, boxing, swimming, judo, taekwondo and volleyball at the World Games, which is organised every four years as a precursor to the Olympic Games. — VNS
