HA NOI (VNS)- The Viet Nam National Symphony Orchestra will perform Mahler's Seventh Symphony on Friday and Saturday at the Hanoi Opera House. This will be the first time the symphony is performed in the country.

Honna Tetsuji will conduct the performance.

Composed in 1904–05, Seventh Symphony is also sometimes referred to as Song of the Night, though this title was not Mahler's own and he disapproved of it. It had its premiere in Prague on 19 September 1908, at the festival marking the Diamond Jubilee of Emperor Franz Joseph.

Gustav Mahler (1860 – 1911) was a late-Romantic Austrian composer and one of the leading conductors of his generation. In terms of musical history, his work served as a bridge between the 19th-century Austro-German tradition and the modernism of the early 20th century. VNS
