HA NOI (VNS) — Viet Nam defeated Pakistan 2-1 in Group B's second match in the qualifying round for the Asia Oceania Junior Davis Cup in Shepparton, Australia, yesterday.
In the first singles match, Tu Minh Tri Henry beat Muhamad Sawani 6-3, 6-3. Nguyen Dac Tien lost to Muzammil Murtaza 4-6, 1-6 in the second match.
In the men's doubles, Henry and Tien defeated their Pakistani rivals 6-4, 6-7, 6-2.
Earlier, Viet Nam lost 3-0 to India.
Today, Viet Nam will meet Australia.
Sixteen nations from the Asia Oceania Zone are competing in the tournament, divided into four groups. The top four teams will qualify for the World Group, which will be played later this year. — VNS
