HCM CITY (VNS)— Viet Nam missed out on a place in the Asian Football Federation U19 Women's Football Championship finals after failing in the second qualifiers.
Despite a 3-1 win over Chinese Taipei in the last match of the group yesterday at Thong Nhat Stadium, Viet Nam only finished second in the pool with six points.
Viet Nam previously lost 2-1 to Myanmar in the opening game but bounced back strongly to thrash India 10-0.
Myanmar took the group with seven points after wins over Viet Nam and India and a draw against Chinese Taipei.
Myanmar will face Thailand in the final on Sunday to decide the winner of the qualifiers.
The winners of the qualifiers secure the only ticket to the finals and get a chance to compete against the five powerhouses: Japan, Australia, China, North Korea and South Korea. The final round of the AFC championship will be held next year. — VNS
