HA NOI (VNS)— Duong Bao Duc and Nguyen Hoang Nam of Viet Nam advanced to the Maybank International Challenge's quarter-finals yesterday in Kuching, Malaysia.
The No 2 seeds defeated Sean Lee and Kean Yew Loh of Singapore 21-18, 21-14 in 20 minutes.
They will next meet Ching Yao Lu and Hee Chun Mak.
In the women's doubles, Le Thu Huyen and Pham Nhu Thao trounced No 3 pair Natcha Saengchote and Sarita Suwannakitborihan of Thailand 21-18, 21-9.
They will play Mei Kuan Chow and Shevon Jemie Lai of Malaysia today.
Viet Nam's Le Ha Anh, the only Vietnamese played left in the men's singles, was sent home after losing 12-21, 10-21 to Ivanudin Rifan Fauzin of Indonesia.
In other badminton news, Viet Nam No 1 Nguyen Tien Minh suffered a shock defeat to Houwei Tian in the first round of the Victor China Open on Wednesday.
