HA NOI (VNS)— Ha Linh Thu's latest collection, The Perfect Mismatch, will be shown at the J Spring Fashion Show on the Seine River in Paris on May 30.

Made from Vietnamese silk, the collection embodies the inherent contradiction of East and West as a harmonious blend of colours and sentiments.

"The Perfect Mismatch collection, completed in two months, represents a journey through a spring garden," said the 40-year-old designer. "I paired the transparent organza material with youthful and elegant designs and embroidery patterns, keeping in mind the latest fashion styles."

Thu feels proud to debut the collection in Paris – a global fashion capital – and hopes it will help her develop her career.

The show combines haute couture and ready-to-wear collections from Japan, Spain, Nigeria, United Arab Emirates, Peru, the UK and France.

Toni&Guy France and Make Up For Ever Academy Paris are jumping on board to create the show's signature looks, described as elegant, bold and intriguing.

Parisians can also see some of the unique pieces from the catwalk at a mini exhibition at Renaissance Paris Arc de Triomphe Hotel from June 1 to 15.

While working at the Lao Dong (Labour) newspaper as a graphic designer, Thu launched Pearl Ha, her first fashion venture.

Five years later, in 2006, she offered a wider range of products under the HA LINH THU brand.

Thu's contemporary and elegant designs made primarily from silk gained popularity for going beyond the conventional idea that traditional material can only be used to make traditional costumes.

Thu's designs were selected to go with Louis Vuitton's bags and accessories when they were launched in Viet Nam. She also won the Best Costume Award at the International Modern Olympics in Shanghai in 2002. — VNS
