HANOI (VNS) — Viet Nam remains in a "group of death" after a draw during the Asian Football Confederation's U19 Football Championship on Sunday.
The team is to play defending champions South Korea, six-time finalists Japan and former winners China in Group C.
Viet Nam will first play No 1 title favourite Korea on October 9. In the next matches they will compete against Japan, two days later, and China on October 13. All games are held at the Zeyar Thiri Stadium in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar.
Twelve other teams have been divided into three groups. ASEAN representatives Thailand and hosts Myanmar are in Group A,while Indonesia is in Group B.
Teams will compete in a round robin format in the qualifying round. Then, the two strongest teams from each group will advance to the knock-out stage.
The final match is set for October 23.
Semi-final teams will receive tickets to participate in the final of the World Cup's U20 in Australia next year. — VNS
