HCM CITY (VNS) — Most Vietnamese competitors have been ousted from the Dong Feng Citroen Badminton Asia Championships in China.
Vu Thi Trang found a little hope against host rival Xuerui Li, who is seeded No 1 in the second round of the women's singles event.
After losing rapidly 9-21 in the first set, Trang bounded back and beat world No 3 21-11 in the second. However Li proved her power to dominate the third set winning 21-13.
In the men's singles, Nguyen Tien Minh found no solution against No 5 seed Tien Chen Chou of Chinese Taipei, losing 19-21, 15-21.
His teammate Duong Bao Duc and Nguyen Hoang Nam were defeated 21-15, 21-11 by South Korean Kim Gi-jung and Kim Sa-rang in only 24 minutes.
