HA NOI (VNS) — A design for the Viet Nam Pavilion for the Milan 2015 Expo in Italy, were selected as one of the top 15 most anticipated buildings to look forward to this year by Dezeen, an internationally renowned architecture magazine.
The concept for the pavilion, by Vietnamese designer Vo Trong Nghia, is said to come from Viet Nam's lotus ponds.
The building will consist of a shallow pool of water surrounding the main structure and a series of bamboo structures that will encase trees that blossom on top like the lotus flower and create a green space to save energy.
The pavilion is scheduled to be completed in late April for the Milan Expo, which will take place from May 1 to October 31. The theme for the expo is "Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life". — VNS
