HA NOI (VNS) — The Viet Nam national men's football team will not play a friendly match with the Philippines on October 3 as planned.
According to the Viet Nam Football Federation (VFF), the Philippines Football Federation sent an apology letter to the VFF and announced it would have to cancel the friendly match because the Philippines couldn't call enough players for the match.
Some of the Philippines' players are currently playing in Europe or preparing for the RHB Singapore Cup's semi-finals on September 28 and October 1.
The friendly was scheduled as part of Viet Nam's preparations for the 2018 FIFA World Cup/2019 Asian Cup joint qualifiers.
As scheduled, Viet Nam will host Iraq on October 10 before playing Thailand on October 13 in the qualifiers. — VNS
