HA NOI  (VNS) — A Vietnamese teenager has won the first prize in a Russian competition for young pianists recently held in Moscow

Seventy contestants under the age of 18 from across the nation participated in the competition.

Tran Dieu Linh, born and raised in Moscow, started learning to play the piano at the age of five. When she was seven, she came first in the entrance exam to the Moscow Music and Pedagogical College (State educational institution of Moscow), where she studied for three years.

In 2010, Linh entered the famed Moscow Gnessin Moscow Special School of Music. The 13-year-old pianist is well-known for her excellent playing of musical pieces with a fast rhythm.

After her first performance in Viet Nam in 2012, Linh and her elder sister Tran Dieu An were invited to participate in the Giai Dieu Mua Thu 2013 (The Melody of Autumn 2013) arts festival and the second international piano festival in HCM City.

The two siblings have travelled around the world to play classical music in the past seven years, winning more than 30 awards in both Russia and elsewhere in Europe. — VNS
