HA NOI (VNS) — The Viet Nam Literature Copyright Centre (VLCC) and the Korean Society of Authors (KOSA) signed an agreement to increase bilateral co-operation on copyright issues in Ha Noi on Tuesday.

Vice Chairman of the Viet Nam Writers' Association Nguyen Huu Huan said that under the agreement, VLCC and KOSA will work together on protecting and developing the two nations' copyright management.

Activities will be jointly organised to protect copyrights, to coordinate on copyright-related issues and share information on ensuring authorisations, he added.

Each year, the two agencies will introduce around 20 to 50 books for readers in various forms such as translations from Vietnamese to the Korean language and vice versa, and publish works in the form of hard copies and e-books.

They also agreed to manage the authorisation process and promote literary works throughout the world.

KOSA vowed to assist VLCC in training its staff on handling copyright issues, while VLCC will protect the copyrights of Vietnamese authors and KOSA members whose works are used in Viet Nam.

Established in 1984, KOSA is a member of the International Confederation of Authors and Composers Societies which has 4,100 members.

VLCC, administered by the Viet Nam Writers Association, was founded in 2004 to strengthen the copyrights of members' literary works. The two agencies are members of the International Federation of Reproduction Rights Organisations network. — VNS
