HA NOI (VNS) — Viet Nam finished their FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup AFC qualifier with their third defeat yesterday in Qatar.
Viet Nam were beaten 4-6 by Kuwait, who successfully paid their debt of losing 2-6 in their previous meet at the Asian Beach Games last year.
Striker Tuan Anh of Viet Nam scored a hat-trick after his teammate Vinh Long had his goal at the eighth minute of the game.
However, the Southeast Asian team failed to maintain their performance, leaving many chances for Kuwait players who converted six of them into goals.
Both two teams, however, were ousted from the Qatar event.
In previous matches, Viet Nam lost 2-3 to Japan and 2-3 to China in the penalty shootout after a 5-5 draw in official time.
The qualifier has lured 17 teams competing in groups from March 23-28.
The best two teams from each group will advance to the quarter-final round. The three top participants will get berths at the world final in June in Portugal. — VNS
