HA NOI (VNS)– Viet Nam's under-16 football team got off to a flying start at the Southeast Asian U16 football championship by crushing hosts Myanmar 4-0 in the opener.
Playing in the capital Naypyidaw, Viet Nam showed no sign of nerves, easily controlling Myanmar and piling on the pressure. A goal arrived in the early minutes courtesy of a delightful Pham Trong Hoa volley.
Myanmar did their best to turn the tie around, but they could find no clear path through to goal. Instead, they conceded three more goals as Bach Hong Han claimed a memorable hattrick to wrap up the 3-0 win.
Viet Nam will next play Cambodia on Saturday. – VNS
