HCM CITY (VNS)—Viet Nam's Under-23 football team will be put to the test today when they face a well-matched opponent, Turkey's Galatasaray U23s, in a friendly match at Thong Nhat Stadium in HCM City.

The Vietnamese side have just finished a fruitful training period in Hungary, winning all three friendlies there by a comfortable margin.

However, the team suffered some setbacks with Ngo Hoang Thinh, Que Ngoc Hai and Nguyen Huy Hung all sustaining injuries. Only Hung has been confirmed by coach Hoang Van Phuc as fit to play today.

"The young Galatasaray players come from a big club in Turkey, but our players are prepared to play their best," Phuc was quoted as saying on the VFF's website.

The friendly is one of the team's final preparations for its most important mission: the Southeast Asian Games at the end of this year in Naypyidaw, Myanmar.

Viet Nam will have another quality friendly against the U23 Santos team of Brazil on Sunday.

The ticket prizes for matches range from VND50,000-350,000 (US$2.4-16.7). — VNS
