HCM CITY (VNS) — The HCM City Ballet Symphony Orchestra and Opera's (HBSO) chamber music next Thursday, April 9, will feature top Vietnamese violinist Bui Cong Duy and the well-known Trio Fugu from the US.
HBSO clarinetist Dao Nhat Quang, violinist Tang Thanh Nam and violist Bui Anh Son will be featured performers at the concert, to be held at the Opera House in HCM City.
The concert will feature two works by Mozart, Quintet in A Major for clarinet and strings, and String Quintet No. 3 in C Major, which has been the inspiration for many other famous works, including Schubert's String Quintet in C Major.
Two works of the Argentinian composer Astor Piazzolla will also be featured.
The Trio Fugu will perform Estonian composer Arvo Part's Mozart-Adagio for piano, violin and cello.
Trio Fugu consists of pianist Ming Tsu, violinist Lorenz Gamma and cellist Joon Sung Jun. They have recorded chamber music works for Cambria Records, Centaur Records, Cuneiform Records, EAR Records, ECM Records, Innova Recordings, Suisa and Tilia Records.
Bui Cong Duy started playing violin at the age of four under instruction of his father. He was recognised as one of the 10 most outstanding faces of Viet Nam in 1997 by the government.
Duy is currently deputy head of the Viet Nam National Academy of Music's string instrument department. — VNS
