HA NOI (VNS) — Viet Nam won two gold medals at the 77th Singapore Open Track and Field Championships 2015 at the Singapore Sports Hub National Stadium.
Southeast Asian (SEA) Games defending champion Nguyen Van Lai finished first in the men's 10,000m with a time of 30:36.53. Lai's teammate Do Quoc Luat came second with a time of 30:57.81.
Two years ago, Lai had bagged a gold medal in the same discipline at the SEA Games held in Myanmar, with a better time of 29.44.82.
Meanwhile, Pham Thu Hue triumphed in the women's 10,000m with a time of 35:03.89, followed by Truong Thi Thuy Kieu who clocked 38:18.45.
Luat and Hue also won silver medals in the 5,000m event.
Viet Nam sent five athletes to the two-day event, which was a warm-up for the games to be held in Singapore in June. — VNS
