Viet Nam maintained seventh place in the women's
section of the ongoing World Chess Olympiad in Turkey yesterday with
18.5 points after drawing 2-2 with Serbia in the seventh round of the
tournament.

Le Kieu Thien Kim lost the first match to Maria Manakova, however, world junior No 40 Hoang Thi Nhu Y defeated Andjelija Stojanovic in the follow-up duel. In the latter two matches, world junior No 33 Nguyen Thi Mai Hung and Pham Bich Ngoc drew with their rivals.
Following the 2-2 draw, Serbia now rank 13th, while Viet Nam will take on India (ranked eighth) in the eighth round. China, Russia and Poland currently top the Olympiad rankings.
Meanwhile, in men's action, Viet Nam was also held to a 2-2 draw by hosts Turkey, ranking 34th.-VNS
