VPF to have football broadcasting rights

The Viet Nam Professional Football Company (VPF) announced that they will acquire the broadcasting rights of the national football tournaments from the 15th round.

HA NOI – The Viet Nam Professional Football Company (VPF) announced that they will acquire the broadcasting rights of the national football tournaments from the 15th round.

The 15th round is the first of the second leg of the V-League, with the First Division to kick off this weekend.

"After meeting with the leaders of the AVG (the Audio Visual Global Company), it is decided that VPF will take charge of the rights without a dollar paid," said Nguyen Duc Kien, VPF deputy chairman.

"During the meeting, we all agreed on the basic articles. A final meeting will be organised on April 23 for the handover to be carried out. Despite the fact that it is a verbal agreement, I believe that the broadcasting rights already belonged to us," Kien said.

VPF managers believe the broadcasting rights will bring a lot of money to Vietnamese football.

"VPF hopes to earn not only VND6 billion (US$285,700) per year as in the contract singed by AVG and VFF, but VND50 billion. The target of VND100 billion or VND150 billion is set for 2013. It will increase to VND300 billion in the near future. VPF will get as much money as possible for Viet Nam football," said Doan Nguyen Duc, another VPF deputy chairman. – VNS
