HA NOI (VNS)– A weekly antique and handicraft market will open from this Sunday (November 3) at the Ha Noi Museum on Pham Hung Road.
The market will feature around 40 stalls offering antiques and handicrafts from collectors and artisans around Ha Noi and neighbouring northern cities like Hai Phong, Bac Ninh, Thanh Hoa and Ninh Binh.
According to Dao Phan Long, chairman of the host Thang Long Antique Collectors' Association, the Ha Noi Culture, Tourism and Sports Department had also encouraged travel agencies to bring tourists as part of city tour schedules.
"Though it is fairly far away from the centre, the museum offers large space for buying and selling," he said.
Handicrafts include silk, lacquer wares, objects made of bone and horn as well as handmade objects from ethnic minority groups.
A traditional band will also perform at the market.
Long said, if the market succeeds, an auction sale will be organised each last Sunday of the month to sell the most valuable antiques.
Representatives from Dau Xua Company, specialising in identifying the dates and values of antiques, will be responsible for helping buyers needing help authenticating items.
The market will open from 9am to 4.30pm every Sunday. – VNS
