HA NOI (VNS)– Viet Nam's leading badminton player, Nguyen Tien Minh, has jumped from seventh to fifth place on the world ranking list released by the Badminton World Federation.
The upgrade follows Minh's bronze-medal win at the World Badminton Championships in Guangzhou, China, last week.
Earlier this year, Minh did reach sixth place for a short period.
The win in China was a well-deserved reward for the HCM City-born player. The bronze medal was Viet Nam's first in the world of badminton.
Minh, who plays for Pune Pistons in the Indian Badminton League, previously won the US Open badminton tournament in 2013. -- VNS
