HA NOI (VNS) — About 200 young artists from Viet Nam, Laos and Cambodia will compete at the Young Talent Competition to be held in Ha Noi from December 8 to 12.
Nine artists from the Laos National Circus Troupe will participate in the competition with eight items, while the Circus Troupe from Cambodia Kingdom will present five items with 13 artists.
The Vietnamese artists will be from the Viet Nam Circus and Variety Arts School, the Viet Nam Circus Federation, the Ha Noi Circus Art Theatre and the southern Long An Circus Theatre.
"Most of the young talents of the Vietnamese circus industry will attend the competition," Nguyen Dang Chuong, head of the culture, sports and tourism ministry's performing arts department, said at a press conference held on Tuesday morning.
The artists have to be under 27, and the youngest competitor is 14-year-old Vi Thi Van Ngoc, a fourth-year student at the Viet Nam Circus and Variety Arts School.
The competition will have six categories, such as acrobatics, juggling, clowning and magic, besides sport acrobatics.
Hosts Viet Nam Circus Federation will present five items such as the swinging trapeze and acrobatics, which are new stage performances.
