Viet Nam's young athletes won gold medals in on the first day of Southeast Asia's eighth SEA youth athletics championships at Thong Nhat Stadium, HCM City.
Truong Thi Thuy Kieu won gold medal in the girls' 3,000m event in 10:34.14.
Nguyen Duc Chinh and Le Trong Hinh won gold in the boys' and U21's 100m while Nguyen Thi Oanh and Nguyen Thi Huyen won gold in the girls' and U21s' 400m hurdle.
Nguyen Thi Truc Mai finished first in the girls' long jump as she landed 5.97m and Nguyen Thi Hoai Nhi added another gold in the girls' high jump as she cleared 1.70m.
Viet Nam's Bui Thi Trang also won gold in the girls U21 javelin.
Thailand also won a slew of gold medals, while Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore gold in some events. — VNS
