HA NOI (VNS) — Andy Dang Quang Anh of Viet Nam won a silver medal at the Kids Golf World Championships that concluded in Malaysia last week.
Anh came second in the Allamanda U9 Boys category, with a result of 13-over 229 after three days of competition.
Pongsapak Laopakdee of Thailand was ranked first with a 9-over 225 score, while Daryl Low Meng Tiang of Singapore took the bronze, scoring 26-over 242.
It is the second time that Andy has ended in the top three in a world tournament for children. In last year's tournament, he finished second in the U8 category.
Andy is one of the 10 Vietnamese competitors in Malaysia.
Ngo Le Hoang Nam Phuong ranked sixth in the girls' U14 and Dang Minh Anh was placed 10th in the boys' U10 event.
The competition, which is being held for the third consecutive year in Malaysia, is the international edition of the US Kids Golf tournament, and provides an excellent opportunity to young players to compete and earn world amateur ranking points. — VNS
